Aaron Broukhim

I’m a PhD candidate in Computer Science & Engineering at UC San Diego, advised by Nadir Weibel in the HXI Lab and working with Eshin Jolly’s SciMinds Lab. I’m on the job market for research scientist roles starting summer 2027 — here’s my CV.

I work on preference learning and fine-tuning for conversational speech. My recent work includes training speech models to express their own uncertainty, showing that people judge identical content differently in text versus audio (NeurIPS 2026), and red-teaming LLMs for mental health safety. This past summer I was an ML engineering intern at Adobe, where I shipped a query autocomplete system into a production LLM-agent platform.

Outside the lab you can find me and my dog at your local matcha & tea shop. My favorite is Paru. I’m also a co-founder of the Graduate Student Volleyball Party (GSVP) — we play every Sunday! And I run the Design Lab Impact and Student Culture Organization (DISCO), which brings graduate students together through events and activities.
